Bosch Oven E305 — Door Lock / Control Communication Fault
Bosch Oven · Error code E305
What E305 Means
The control board cannot confirm the door lock state, typically during or after a self-clean cycle. On some models E305 also indicates a lost communication link between the main control (TCM) and the user-interface display.
Symptoms
- Door stays locked after self-clean
- Display unresponsive or blank
- Oven won't heat
- E305 shown immediately at power-up
Common Causes
Self-clean lock motor binds at end of cycle and never reports unlocked.
Microswitch on the latch assembly sends an invalid combination of signals.
Heat cycling loosens the connector behind the control panel.
UI no longer answers polling from the main control.
Outputs to the lock motor or comm bus are dead.
How to Fix It
- Power-cycle the oven at the breaker for 10 minutes.
- Confirm the door is fully closed and the gasket isn't pinched.
- If the door is still locked, wait 30–60 minutes after a self-clean for the cavity to cool below the lock threshold.
- Remove the top trim and reseat the ribbon cable between the UI board and the main control.
- Inspect the door latch assembly for binding; manually test the lock motor for free travel.
- If lock and wiring are good, replace the door latch assembly; if the code persists, replace the UI board, then the main control.
