How to fix it

  1. Power off.
  2. Open the control panel and reseat the touchpad ribbon at the EOC — make sure the ZIF latch is closed.
  3. Inspect the ribbon for cracks or brown burn marks.
  4. If reseating clears the fault, you're done. If not, replace the touchpad.
  5. Replace the EOC if the new touchpad doesn't resolve it.
