Whirlpool Oven F2E5 — Cancel key drive line open
Whirlpool Oven · Error code F2E5
What F2E5 Means
The control sees the Cancel key signal line as open. The Cancel button can't function, and the control flags the keypad as faulty.
Symptoms
- F2E5 on display
- Cancel button does nothing
- Other keys may still partially respond
Common Causes
The Cancel key trace runs through the ribbon — a partial unseat opens just that line.
Years of pressing in the same spot can crack the printed trace for one key.
If a known-good keypad still throws F2E5, the input on the EOC has died.
How to Fix It
- Kill power at the breaker for 1 minute and restore.
- If F2E5 returns, access the back of the control and reseat the keypad ribbon in its ZIF socket.
- Inspect the ribbon for kinks or cracks near the connector.
- If the ribbon and connector are fine, replace the keypad (or keypad-and-control assembly on integrated models).
- If a new keypad still throws F2E5, replace the electronic oven control board.
