Whirlpool Oven F3E3 — Warming drawer / lower cavity sensor fault

Whirlpool Oven · Error code F3E3

What F3E3 Means

Temperature sensor fault on the secondary cavity (warming drawer on ranges, or lower oven on double wall ovens). The affected cavity won't heat.

Symptoms

  • F3E3 on display
  • Warming drawer or lower oven won't reach temperature
  • Main upper oven may still work normally

Common Causes

1
Failed temperature sensor in the affected cavity

RTD reads out of spec (not ~1080 ohms at room temperature).

2
Broken or shorted sensor harness

Wire pinched behind the cavity or melted against an element bracket.

3
Failed control board input for that cavity

Less common, but the EOC's secondary sensor channel can fail.

How to Fix It

  1. Kill power at the breaker.
  2. Access the back of the affected cavity and locate its temperature sensor connector.
  3. Measure the sensor: ~1080 ohms at room temperature is good; open or near-zero means replace.
  4. Inspect the harness from the sensor to the control for damage and repair as needed.
  5. Replace the sensor if out of spec, restore power, and run a heat test on that cavity.
  6. If F3E3 returns with a known-good sensor and harness, replace the electronic oven control board.
