What F91 Means

Variant of the F90 family — the lock motor moved but the switches reported an unexpected state (e.g. unlock signal during a lock command). Common on self-clean ranges with a motorized latch.

Symptoms

  • F91 during self-clean lock attempt
  • Lock motor reverses unexpectedly
  • Door state on display flickers locked/unlocked

Switches contradict each other so the EOC aborts.

Motor overshoots and trips the wrong switch.

Pinched or melted wire in the latch loom.

How to Fix It

  1. Disconnect power.
  2. Inspect the latch microswitches and their actuator tabs for wear or bent metal.
  3. Cycle the latch manually and listen for clean switch clicks.
  4. Replace the entire door lock assembly if any switch is intermittent — they're sold as a kit.
  5. Inspect harness routing across the top of the oven for heat damage.
