H1 — Fresh Food Thermistor Open

Main board reads an open circuit on the fresh-food (refrigerator) section thermistor. Without a valid temp reading, cooling control is degraded.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Locate fresh food thermistor (typically clipped near the top of the fresh food compartment).
  3. Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter — should be roughly 16k ohms at 32 deg F (verify with tech sheet).
  4. If reading is infinite (open), replace the thermistor.
  5. If sensor is good, inspect wiring back to the main board for breaks.
  6. If wiring is good, replace the main control board.
