HI LO Moderate Easy DIY
Frigidaire Refrigerator HI LO — Line Voltage Out of Range
Frigidaire Refrigerator · Error code HI LO
What HI LO Means
Incoming AC voltage to the refrigerator is outside the acceptable operating window — too high or too low.
Symptoms
- HI LO on display
- Compressor not running
- Lights flickering
- Repeated resets
Common Causes
1
Brownout or surge on utility power
Voltage dipped below ~90V or spiked above ~135V.
2
Refrigerator on a shared overloaded circuit
Heavy appliance on same circuit drops voltage.
3
Plugged into a UPS or unsuitable inverter
Square-wave inverter trips the sensor.
4
Loose outlet wiring
Worn outlet causes voltage drop.
How to Fix It
- Unplug refrigerator and plug it into a known-good 120V outlet on a dedicated circuit.
- Check the outlet with a multimeter for steady 110-125V AC.
- Remove from any UPS, surge strip with active conditioning, or generator with poor wave form.
- If on a generator, ensure pure-sine output and adequate capacity.
- If code returns on good power, suspect the main control board.
