How to fix it

  1. Unplug refrigerator and plug it into a known-good 120V outlet on a dedicated circuit.
  2. Check the outlet with a multimeter for steady 110-125V AC.
  3. Remove from any UPS, surge strip with active conditioning, or generator with poor wave form.
  4. If on a generator, ensure pure-sine output and adequate capacity.
  5. If code returns on good power, suspect the main control board.

Why it happens

Typical signs: HI LO on display · Compressor not running · Lights flickering · Repeated resets

  • Brownout or surge on utility power Voltage dipped below ~90V or spiked above ~135V.
  • Refrigerator on a shared overloaded circuit Heavy appliance on same circuit drops voltage.
  • Plugged into a UPS or unsuitable inverter Square-wave inverter trips the sensor.
  • Loose outlet wiring Worn outlet causes voltage drop.
