How to fix it

  1. Unplug refrigerator and remove the freezer rear panel.
  2. Locate the freezer thermistor clipped near the evaporator coil.
  3. Inspect for ice damage and reseat the connector.
  4. Test resistance with a multimeter — should be high (around 16K–32K ohms at 0°F, model-dependent).
  5. Replace the thermistor if open, shorted, or far from spec.
  6. If problem persists, replace the main control board.
