What 88 Means

88 displayed on each digit is a normal segment-test pattern shown briefly at power-on, or it can appear if the unit was just plugged in / power restored. It's not an error.

Symptoms

  • 88 on temperature panel
  • Just plugged in or power restored
  • All segments illuminated

Common Causes

Power-on self-test

Display lights every segment to verify it works.

Recent power outage

Reset display showing the test pattern.

How to Fix It

  1. Wait 30–60 seconds — the display should return to showing temperatures.
  2. If 88 persists, press Ice Plus and Freezer simultaneously to clear the test pattern.
  3. If still stuck, power cycle (unplug 5 minutes).
