F1E1 — Stuck Motor Relay on Main Control

The main electronic control board has detected that the motor relay is stuck closed or otherwise stuck in the wrong state. The board itself usually needs replacement.

How to fix it

  1. Disconnect power immediately and leave it off — a stuck motor relay can mean the motor cannot be commanded off normally.
  2. Leave the breaker off for 5 minutes, restore power, and try a Timed Dry.
  3. If F1E1 returns even once, plan on replacing the main electronic control board — Whirlpool's official guidance is professional replacement.
