How to fix it

  1. Power-cycle: breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON.
  2. Start a Timed Dry and watch for one full minute; many F71 events were one-time glitches.
  3. If F71 returns, unplug and open the console.
  4. Reseat the harness between the user interface and the main control board.
  5. Swap the user interface board if reseating doesn't fix it.
  6. If still no fix, replace the main control board.

Why it happens

Typical signs: F71 on display · Buttons do nothing · Display frozen or partly working · Cycle won't advance

  • Loose UI harness Communication cable between UI and main board is not seated.
  • Failed UI board The user interface board has died and the main board is reporting the silence.
  • Power-supply glitch Brownout or surge corrupted firmware state and a power-cycle clears it.
