GE Microwave F0 — Communication / no key entry fault

GE Microwave · Error code F0

What F0 Means

F0 indicates a control communication problem, often that the control hasn't seen any keypad activity in a expected window, or that the smart board lost contact with the keypad. Frequently clears with a hard reset.

Symptoms

  • F0 in display at idle or right after power-up
  • Keypad seems unresponsive
  • Code clears briefly with reset
  • May appear after a power outage

Common Causes

1
Brief power glitch / brown-out

Logic gets out of sync and needs a clean restart.

2
Loose keypad ribbon at the control board

Especially after recent service or a bump from above.

3
Failed keypad

Membrane has lost contact with the control.

4
Failed control board

After keypad and harness are verified.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the microwave (or trip the breaker) for 5 minutes.
  2. Restore power and watch — if F0 stays away, monitor for repeat.
  3. If it returns, unplug and reseat the keypad ribbon at the control board connector.
  4. Replace the keypad if reseating doesn't help.
  5. Replace the control board if a new keypad still throws F0.
