LG Oven F19 — Oven not heating properly

LG Oven · Error code F19

What F19 Means

The oven failed to reach the expected temperature rise within the programmed preheat window (commonly does not reach ~150°F within 5 minutes). The control aborts the cycle.

Symptoms

  • F19 on display, often after a long preheat
  • Cool oven that beeps but never finishes preheating
  • Element does not glow / igniter never lights on gas models

Common Causes

1
Open bake element

Element burned through; no continuity end to end.

2
Failed bake relay on the main control board

Element never sees voltage even though the board commands it on.

3
Loose element terminal at the back of the cavity

Push-on connector burned and lost contact.

4
Bad thermistor reading low

Sensor reads ambient as cold so element is on but the board still thinks it is not heating fast enough.

5
Weak igniter (gas models)

Igniter does not pull enough current to open the safety valve.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off at the breaker for 60 seconds, retry preheat.
  2. If F19 returns, pull the breaker and inspect the bake element for visible breaks or blisters; replace if damaged.
  3. Measure bake element resistance — typically ~20–40 Ω. Open = replace element.
  4. On gas ovens, watch the igniter glow time; a slow/weak igniter that does not light the burner in ~60 sec needs replacement.
  5. Check the thermistor (~1080 Ω at room temp); replace if out of spec.
  6. If element and sensor check good, replace the main control board.
