LG Oven F51 — Griddle sensor error

LG Oven · Error code F51

What F51 Means

On LG ranges with a center griddle (ProBake/InstaView griddle models), the griddle temperature sensor is reading open or out of range.

Symptoms

  • F51 or F-51 on display
  • Griddle zone will not heat
  • Other surface burners and oven still work

Common Causes

1
Open griddle thermistor

Center griddle sensor failed open.

2
Disconnected sensor harness

Service or cleaning loosened the connector under the cooktop.

3
Damaged sensor pigtail

Pinched between cooktop frame and chassis.

4
Failed cooktop control board

Sensor input circuit dead.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off at the breaker.
  2. Remove the cooktop to access the griddle element/sensor.
  3. Unplug the griddle thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature — should be ~1090 Ω. Replace if open or far off.
  4. Inspect harness routing under the cooktop for pinch points.
  5. Reseat connectors at the cooktop control board.
  6. If sensor and wiring are good, replace the cooktop control board.
