How to fix it

  1. Power down at the breaker.
  2. Remove the cooktop and inspect the griddle element for visible damage; measure resistance for continuity.
  3. Replace the griddle element if open.
  4. Check element terminal connectors for arcing/discoloration; replace pigtail if damaged.
  5. Verify griddle sensor reads ~1090 Ω at room temp; replace if off.
  6. If element and sensor are good, replace the cooktop control board.
