LG Oven F7 — Upper convection fan error
LG Oven · Error code F7
What F7 Means
The control cannot detect the upper convection fan running for more than one minute during a convection cycle. The fan tach feedback is missing or the fan is mechanically locked.
Symptoms
- F7 or F-7 on display
- Convection bake/roast cancels
- Audible scraping or no fan sound from rear of cavity
- Standard bake may still work
Common Causes
Worn bearings or burned winding — motor will not spin or draws no current.
Hub set screw backed off and the blade is binding.
Harness in the back wall opened from heat cycling.
Board commands the fan on but the relay never closes.
How to Fix It
- Press CLEAR/OFF and try a non-convection bake to confirm bake itself is OK.
- Power down at the breaker.
- Remove the rear convection cover inside the cavity and spin the fan by hand — it should turn freely with no scrape.
- Tighten the blade hub if it is loose; replace the blade if it is bent.
- Pull the rear access panel and check the fan motor connector. Measure motor winding resistance against the service-manual spec.
- Replace the convection fan motor if it is open or seized.
- If the motor and wiring check out, replace the main control board.
