LG Oven F8 — Meat probe error
LG Oven · Error code F8
What F8 Means
The control detects an open or shorted meat-probe circuit, or a probe inserted but reading an impossible value. The oven cannot run a probe cook cycle until cleared.
Symptoms
- F8 or F-8 on display
- Probe-cook cycle will not start or cancels
- Probe icon flashing
- Standard bake still works in some cases
Common Causes
Probe cable kinked or the tip element open after repeated use.
Grease or food in the cavity-wall jack prevents a clean contact.
Some models throw F8 if a probe is detected at idle and reads wrong.
Pins corroded or wiring open.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the meat probe from the cavity-wall jack.
- Press CLEAR/OFF and retry the cook without the probe.
- Inspect the probe cable for kinks, melted insulation, or a loose plug.
- Clean the jack with a dry brush; do not get it wet.
- Try a known-good replacement probe.
- If F8 returns with no probe inserted, replace the probe receptacle/harness on the cavity wall.
