How to fix it

  1. Unplug the unit; remove all food and the ice bin.
  2. Leave both doors wide open for at least 8 hours to fully defrost; place towels to catch water.
  3. Dry the interior thoroughly, plug back in and wait 24–48 hours for normal temperatures.
  4. If Er rF returns, remove the fresh-food rear panel and check the fan for free rotation.
  5. Replace the fresh-food fan motor if it drags or won't spin to commanded speed.
  6. Inspect door gasket and confirm doors close fully without obstruction (shelves, bins).

Why it happens

Typical signs: Er rF on display · Fridge side warming while freezer stays cold · No airflow from vents in fresh-food side · Possible buzz/click from rear of fridge compartment · Fans audibly stop after a few seconds

  • Frost locking the fridge fan Door left ajar or worn gasket lets warm humid air ice up the evaporator area.
  • Failed fresh-food fan motor Bearings drag or Hall-effect feedback fails.
  • Damper or air-duct ice block Damper iced open/closed disrupts fan loading.
  • Wiring harness pinch at hinge Common where the harness routes through the cabinet hinge area.
