Er CL — (E CL) — Low-side refrigerant leak / cooling fault

How to fix it
- Check ventilation, door seals, and that thermostat settings are correct — rule out non-sealed causes.
- This code requires a sealed-system tech (EPA 608) to diagnose properly.
- If covered by LG's 10-year linear compressor warranty (2014–2022 US units), file a claim first.
- Tech will leak-detect, repair (often evaporator replacement), evacuate and recharge.
- Code self-clears after 24 hours of normal cooling, or force-clear with Freezer + Refrigerator 3× door open.
Why it happens
Typical signs: Er CL or E CL on display · Frost or icing on suction line · Compressor runs hot, higher amp draw · Both compartments warming over time · Evaporator partially frosted
- Evaporator leak Pinhole in aluminum evap from corrosion.
- Suction-line leak Vibration crack or rubbed-through tube.
- Valve failure (multi-evap) Stuck valve restricts return flow.
- Weak compressor suction Linear compressor with worn piston.
