What PF Means

The microwave lost power (utility outage, breaker trip, or unplug event) and is prompting the user to reset the clock.

Symptoms

  • PF flashing on display after power restored
  • Clock not set
  • Microwave otherwise functions normally

Common Causes

Recent power outage

Utility power was interrupted.

Tripped breaker

Circuit breaker tripped briefly.

Loose plug

Microwave was momentarily unplugged or outlet is loose.

Brownout

Low voltage event reset the control.

How to Fix It

  1. Press Cancel/Off to clear the PF code.
  2. Set the clock as you normally would.
  3. If PF returns repeatedly without a known outage, check the outlet voltage with a multimeter.
  4. Inspect the power cord and outlet for damage or looseness.
  5. If on a GFCI or AFCI outlet, test the outlet for nuisance tripping.
  6. If the issue is frequent, have an electrician check the circuit.
