Samsung · Washer Minor

Ur — / Ub — Unbalanced load

The washer cannot balance the load for the final spin. Ur (top-load) or Ub (front-load) appears when drum vibration exceeds safe limits. The machine adds water and tries to redistribute clothes.

How to fix it

  1. Pause and manually redistribute laundry evenly around the drum.
  2. Add 2-3 similar-weight items if washing a single bulky piece.
  3. Use a bubble level on the top of the washer — adjust feet and lock the jam nuts.
  4. Run a Rinse+Spin to test.
  5. If Ur persists with balanced loads on a level machine, replace suspension rods (top-load) or shock absorbers (front-load) as a set.

Why it happens

Typical signs: Spin cycle never reaches full speed · Clothes still soaking wet at end · Loud thumping during spin attempts

  • Lopsided load Heavy item (towel, rug, jeans) bunched on one side.
  • Too few or too many items A single bulky item or a packed drum prevents redistribution.
  • Washer not level Uneven feet cause the tub to ride asymmetrically.
  • Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers Tub no longer self-centers — common after 6+ years.
