The control sees an open circuit on the thermistor or Optical Water Indicator (OWI/turbidity sensor) in the sump. The dishwasher cannot verify water temperature or clarity.

How to fix it
- Remove the lower dish rack and the chopper/filter assembly to expose the sump.
- Pull the toe-kick and trace the wiring from the control board to the thermistor/OWI in the sump.
- Unplug and reseat both ends of the harness. Inspect for chafe spots, especially where the harness crosses the frame.
- Run service diagnostic from the tech sheet. If F3E1 persists with the harness verified good, replace the OWI/thermistor assembly.
- Reassemble and run a Normal cycle to verify.
