Whirlpool Dishwasher F6E6 — Incoming Water Too Cold
Whirlpool Dishwasher · Error code F6E6
What F6E6 Means
The thermistor reports incoming water below ~110°F. The dishwasher needs ~120°F at the inlet for proper detergent activation and cleaning.
Symptoms
- F6E6 on display
- Long cycle times as dishwasher tries to heat water
- Poor cleaning / cloudy glasses
Common Causes
Heater set under 120°F, or kitchen is far from heater so hot water cools in the pipe.
First fill is cold water sitting in the pipe.
Less common; verify hot water actually reaches the dishwasher first.
How to Fix It
- Run hot water at the kitchen sink until it runs hot, then start the dishwasher.
- Set the household water heater to 120°F.
- Enable the Hi-Temp or Sani-Rinse option to let the dishwasher boost water temperature.
- If F6E6 persists with verified hot water at the inlet, test the thermistor per the tech sheet and replace the OWI/thermistor if out of spec.
