Whirlpool · Microwave Minor
Demo — Mode — Not Heating
Demo Mode is a showroom setting. The light, fan, and turntable run, but the magnetron is disabled so food does NOT heat. People often think the microwave is broken when it's just in Demo.

How to fix it
- Check the owner's manual for the model's exact Demo Mode toggle. Whirlpool typically uses a long-press combo (often Cancel + a number, or a specific key sequence at power-up).
- Power down at the breaker for 1 minute, then power up and try the toggle within 10 seconds.
- After disabling, run a 30-second test with a cup of water. If the water heats, Demo is off.
- If the unit still shows 'Demo' and won't accept the toggle, the keypad or control board has failed.
Why it happens
Typical signs: 'Demo' on the display · Microwave runs but food stays cold · Turntable, light, and fan operate normally
- Demo Mode enabled at the factory or by a previous user Common on units bought from a floor model or after a service tech enabled it.
