How to fix it
- Open the door and close it firmly, then start your cycle within a few seconds.
- On a new install, remove all packing material from inside the cavity and around the door.
- Reposition or remove the cooking rack if installed.
- If the message keeps returning with a clean, properly-shut door, move on to the door interlock diagnostics (see F5E0/F5E1).
Why it happens
Typical signs: 'Door' or 'Open Door Closed' appears in the display · Microwave beeps when you try to start
- Door closed but no cycle started within 5 minutes Whirlpool's intended behavior on most current OTR / built-in models.
- Packing material blocking the door On a brand-new install, foam or plastic bumpers can keep the door from fully closing.
- Cooking rack out of position If equipped, the rack can keep the door from latching cleanly.
