Amana Dryer F24 — Moisture Sensor Open

Amana Dryer · Error code F24

What F24 Means

The moisture sensor circuit (two metal strips inside the drum) is reading open. Auto-dry cycles cannot determine when laundry is dry.

Symptoms

  • F24 displayed
  • Auto cycles end immediately
  • Clothes under-dried on sensor cycles
  • Timed dry still works

Common Causes

1
Dirty moisture sensor bars

Fabric softener buildup insulates the bars — clean with rubbing alcohol.

2
Disconnected sensor wire

Wire to sensor unseated from the harness at the front bulkhead.

3
Failed moisture sensor

Internal break in the sensor strip.

4
Failed main control

ACU sense input failed.

How to Fix It

  1. Open the door and locate the two metal strips inside the drum opening.
  2. Clean both strips with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth.
  3. Run a sensor cycle to see if F24 clears.
  4. If still failing, unplug and access the front bulkhead to inspect the sensor wires.
  5. Reseat the moisture sensor connector.
  6. Replace the moisture sensor if continuity is open.
