E01 — Door Lock Fault

Bosch's official US washer codes use an E:XX / F-code / icon format (e.g. E16/E34/F16/F34 for a door-lock fault); a bare 'E01' is not in the official US list. The 'door lock fault' explanation below is plausible given the code family but is not confirmed on Bosch's US consumer page — verify against your model's manual.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes to reset the control.
  2. Open the door, clear any clothing from the seal, firmly close, and retry.
  3. Inspect the door strike/hook for cracks; replace the hook kit if damaged.
  4. Remove the top panel and check the lock connector seating.
  5. Test the door lock PTC with a multimeter (should read several hundred ohms cold).
  6. Replace the door lock assembly if no continuity through the interlock circuit.
  7. If lock and wiring are good, the main control module is the next suspect.

Why it happens

Typical signs: Cycle will not start · Door light flashes · Machine pauses immediately after start · Door will not lock

  • Door not fully closed Laundry or detergent drawer obstructing the door seal.
  • Faulty door lock assembly (PTC interlock) The PTC element inside the lock has failed and won't hold the latch.
  • Broken door latch hook Plastic strike on the door is cracked, so the lock can't engage.
  • Wiring harness to door lock loose or chafed Connector at the top-right of the tub disconnected or pinched.
  • Control module failed to send lock signal Main PCB output triac for the lock is bad.
