Bosch Washer E04 — Water Inlet Fault
Bosch Washer · Error code E04
What E04 Means
The washer is not filling with water within the allowed time. The cycle stops and the inlet valve closes.
Symptoms
- No water enters drum
- Slow fill
- Cycle halts at start
- Beeping at fill stage
Common Causes
Hot/cold faucets at the wall are off or partially closed.
Mesh filters at the hose-to-valve connection clogged with sediment.
Hose bent sharply behind the machine.
Valve coil open or stuck closed.
Pressure below ~14 PSI prevents valve operation.
How to Fix It
- Confirm both hot and cold supply valves are fully open.
- Shut off the supply, disconnect inlet hoses, and clean the mesh screens.
- Straighten any kinks in the fill hoses.
- Reconnect, briefly open the valves to flush any debris into a bucket.
- If no fill, test the inlet valve solenoid resistance (~1000 ohms typical).
- Replace the inlet valve assembly if a solenoid is open.
