How to fix it

  1. Unplug the washer immediately and do not run cycles.
  2. Remove the front or rear panel for heater access.
  3. Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance from each terminal to ground (should read OL/infinite).
  4. If any terminal shows continuity to ground, replace the heating element.
  5. Inspect and replace the terminal block if charred.
  6. Repair any chafed wiring before powering on.
