How to fix it

  1. Unplug the washer and rotate the drum by hand — note resistance or grinding.
  2. Remove the lower kickplate; check between tub and drum with a flashlight for foreign objects.
  3. Remove the rear panel and inspect the drive belt and pulley.
  4. If drum spins by hand, check motor brushes (replace if worn).
