Frigidaire Dishwasher HS — Heater sensor fault
Frigidaire Dishwasher · Error code HS
What HS Means
The high-limit or in-tub temperature sensor circuit is open or out of range. The dishwasher cannot safely control heating, so heated dry and high-temp wash are disabled and the cycle may abort.
Symptoms
- HS shown after fill
- Cycle aborts before heat-up
- Cold or lukewarm wash water
- Heated dry not working
Common Causes
In-tub temperature sensor failed open — most common cause.
One-time high-limit popped after a dry-run event.
Harness pulled loose during a previous service.
Reference voltage to the sensor failed on the board.
How to Fix It
- Cut power at the breaker.
- Pull the dishwasher and remove the bottom access panel.
- Locate the thermistor on the sump and disconnect it.
- Measure resistance — should be in the 10-50 kΩ range at room temperature (varies by model).
- If open, replace the thermistor.
- Inspect and test the high-limit thermostat if present; replace if open.
- If sensor and high-limit test good, replace the main control board.
