Control reads thermistor resistance too low or sees an over-temperature condition at the exhaust. Often the sensor is shorted, or airflow is severely restricted causing real overheat.

How to fix it
- Unplug the dryer.
- Clean the lint filter and inspect the full vent run to the outside hood — clear any blockage.
- Remove access panel and measure exhaust thermistor resistance; replace if near 0 ohms.
- Inspect heater element/relay for welded contacts.
- Run a test cycle and verify exhaust temp with a meter probe — should not exceed ~165°F outlet.
