Frigidaire Dryer E4A — Inlet thermistor open

Frigidaire Dryer · Error code E4A

What E4A Means

The control sees the inlet (heater housing) thermistor as open circuit. Heater command is disabled for safety until the sensor reads normally.

Symptoms

  • E4A on display
  • No heat
  • Cycle aborts shortly after start

Common Causes

1
Open inlet thermistor

Sensor failed open.

2
Broken wire to inlet thermistor

Often where harness flexes past the drum.

3
Unplugged connector

May have come loose during prior service.

4
Failed main control board

Less common.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug the dryer.
  2. Access the heater box (rear panel on electric models).
  3. Locate inlet thermistor on the heater housing and inspect connector.
  4. Reseat the connector; ohm out the sensor — should read in spec at room temperature.
  5. Replace thermistor if open.
  6. If sensor and wiring are good, replace main control board.
