Frigidaire Refrigerator HI — High Temperature Alarm

Frigidaire Refrigerator · Error code HI

What HI Means

Internal compartment temperature has risen above the safe threshold — usually paired with an audible alarm.

Symptoms

  • HI on display
  • Audible beeping
  • Food warmer than expected
  • Possibly thawed items in freezer

Common Causes

1
Door left ajar

Most common cause — gasket not sealing or door blocked open.

2
Recent power outage

Temperature climbed while unplugged.

3
Cooling system fault

Fan, compressor, or refrigerant problem keeping temp high.

4
Heavy load just added

Lots of warm food added at once.

How to Fix It

  1. Press the Alarm Reset/HI button to silence the alarm.
  2. Check that all doors are fully closed and gaskets seal.
  3. Allow up to 24 hours for temperature to recover with normal load.
  4. If HI returns, verify evaporator fan is running and coil is not iced over.
  5. Check condenser coil is clean.
  6. If temperature does not recover, diagnose cooling system (compressor, sealed system, sensors).
