Sanitized LED Off — GE Dishwasher Sanitized Light Off / Not Sanitized

When a sanitize cycle finishes and the 'Sanitized' indicator does NOT illuminate, the dishwasher could not reach or maintain the final-rinse water temperature (about 150°F) required to certify the sanitize cycle to GE's residential sanitization (NSF) requirements. The dishes were still washed, but the sanitization claim could not be met for that cycle.

How to fix it

  1. Set water heater to 120°F minimum (recommended).
  2. Run hot water at the kitchen sink for 30 seconds before starting the dishwasher.
  3. Ohm the heating element; replace if reading is high or open.
  4. Avoid running a major hot-water load (shower, washer) at the same time.

  • Inlet water below 120°F Water heater set too low or long supply run lost heat.
  • Weak heating element Element resistance drifted high; water heats slowly.
