How to fix it
- Clean the lint screen and rinse it with warm soapy water to remove softener film.
- Disconnect the transition hose from the wall and inspect both ends for lint.
- Run a vent brush through the wall duct out to the exterior cap.
- Check the exterior vent cap — make sure the flapper opens freely and isn't screened over.
- Replace any crushed foil duct with smooth rigid or semi-rigid metal duct.
- Reconnect and run a Timed Dry — code should clear.
- If AF persists with a verified-clear vent, inspect the blower wheel for cracks or wobble and replace if needed.
