What dF Means
Similar to dE but specifically logged when defrost did not run on its scheduled interval. Frost build-up is starting; act before the unit warms.

- dF code blinking on display

Common Causes
Most common — heater element burns out and defrost cycle does nothing.
Never closes to complete the heater circuit.
Board can't tell when defrost is needed or complete.
Board internally can't trigger defrost relay.
How to Fix It
- Manual defrost: unplug 8+ hours with doors open.
- Remove freezer back panel and inspect the evaporator for heavy ice.
- Continuity-test the defrost heater — open = replace.
- Cold-test the bimetal defrost thermostat (should be closed below ~25°F).
- Test evap thermistor resistance.
- Replace whichever component fails its test. If all pass, replace the main control board.
