D90 — LG Dryer D80 / D90 / D95 — Clogged Exhaust Vent

The D80, D90, and D95 codes report how blocked the exhaust duct is — roughly 80%, 90%, and 95% restricted. This is an airflow and fire-safety warning, not a malfunction.

How to fix it

  1. Clean the lint screen every load.
  2. Disconnect and clean the full exhaust duct from the dryer to the exterior vent hood with a vent-cleaning brush kit.
  3. Replace crushed foil ducting with smooth rigid or semi-rigid duct and shorten the run if possible.
  4. Confirm the exterior vent flap opens freely.

Why it happens

Typical signs: Long drying times · Dryer hot to the touch · D80, D90, or D95 on the display

  • Clogged exhaust vent Lint has built up in the duct from the dryer to the outside — the cause in almost every case. A clogged vent is a known fire hazard.
  • Crushed or too-long vent run A kinked foil duct or an over-long run restricts airflow.
  • Gas-supply issue (gas models) On gas dryers, D80 can also indicate a lack of gas supply.
