LG Dryer d95 — Exhaust duct ~95% blocked

LG Dryer · Error code d95

What d95 Means

LG's flow-sensor logic estimates the exhaust ductwork is approximately 95% blocked. This is the highest tier of the d-series airflow warnings (d75/d80/d90/d95) and the dryer will refuse to run normally until airflow is restored.

Symptoms

  • d95 shown on display
  • Clothes take far too long to dry
  • Cycle stops early
  • Dryer cabinet and door glass run hot
  • Burning smell from lint buildup

Common Causes

1
Clogged lint filter

Filter loaded with lint or coated with fabric-softener residue blocks airflow before the ductwork.

2
Clogged exhaust duct

Lint built up inside the rigid or flex duct between the dryer and the wall cap.

3
Crushed or kinked transition hose

Flex foil/vinyl hose pinched behind the dryer when pushed against the wall.

4
Blocked exterior vent cap

Wall/roof hood flap stuck shut, screened over, or full of lint, leaves, or a bird nest.

5
Excessively long or convoluted duct run

Total equivalent length exceeds LG spec, especially with multiple 90° elbows.

How to Fix It

  1. Power the dryer off and unplug it (or shut the gas valve for gas models).
  2. Pull and clean the lint filter; wash it in warm soapy water if fabric-softener film is present and let it fully dry.
  3. Disconnect the transition duct from the back of the dryer and inspect for lint buildup; replace flimsy foil/vinyl hose with semi-rigid or rigid metal duct.
  4. Vacuum the rigid duct run from both ends and use a dryer-vent brush kit if the run is long.
  5. Go outside and confirm the exterior vent hood flap opens freely and is not screened over.
  6. Reconnect everything, plug in, and run a Timed Dry cycle to confirm d95 does not return.
