LG Washer dL — Door lock circuit fault (top load)
LG Washer · Error code dL
What dL Means
Top-load LG models throw dL when the lid lock fails to engage or the lock circuit is open. Different family from front-load dE — this is the lid latch, not the door boot.
Symptoms
- dL on the display
- Lid lock LED off or blinking
- Cycle won't start or pauses immediately
- Lid feels loose at the latch
Common Causes
User error — closing the lid too softly leaves the strike out of the lock.
The lock module under the top panel has burned out.
Plastic strike on the lid snapped or worn down.
Connector to the lid lock backed off.
Board doesn't drive the lock solenoid.
How to Fix It
- Open and firmly close the lid — listen for the latch click.
- Unplug the washer for 1 minute, then try again.
- Inspect the plastic strike on the underside of the lid for cracks or wear; replace if broken.
- Remove the top control panel (per your service manual) to access the lid lock.
- Reseat the harness on the lid lock assembly.
- Run the test mode and command lock/unlock; no click = bad lock assembly.
- Replace the lid lock assembly; if dL persists after replacement, suspect the control board.
