LG Washer Ed3 — Auto-dose pump open circuit / not dispensing
LG Washer · Error code Ed3
What Ed3 Means
On models with the auto-dispense (TurboWash/AI Dosing) tank, Ed3 means the board commanded the dose pump to run but no detergent was actually pumped — the level didn't drop. Either the pump, the line, or the level sensor is the issue.
Symptoms
- Ed3 on the display
- Auto-dispense tank doesn't draw down between loads
- Clothes coming out under-cleaned
- Code appears even when tank is full
Common Causes
Dried detergent gummed up the peristaltic pump head.
Silicone tube from tank to tub pinched or off the barb.
Thick detergent or low level fools the level sensor.
Pump motor windings open.
Reports 'no change' even though pump ran.
How to Fix It
- Open the auto-dispense tank, confirm detergent is present, and check it isn't thickened/separated.
- Empty the tank, rinse with warm water, and refill with fresh HE detergent diluted per the manual.
- Trace the small silicone tube from the tank toward the tub — straighten kinks and confirm it's seated on both barbs.
- Run an Auto-Dispense prime / calibration cycle from the menu (model-dependent).
- If Ed3 returns, remove the tank assembly and inspect the pump head for crusty detergent — clean with warm water.
- Test the pump motor — should run when triggered; silent = bad.
- Replace the dose pump if it doesn't run; replace the level sensor if pump runs but level doesn't drop.
