PF Minor Easy DIY

LG Washer PF — Power failure mid-cycle

LG Washer · Error code PF

What PF Means

The washer lost power during a cycle. PF tells you the unit remembers what it was doing and is ready to resume — it is not a hardware fault unless it keeps coming back.

Symptoms

  • PF appears after a power blink
  • Cycle paused mid-wash
  • Recurs on the same outlet

Common Causes

1
Utility power blink or outage

Brief grid drop while a cycle was running.

2
Tripped breaker

A heater or motor on the same circuit can trip the breaker.

3
Loose plug or outlet

Vibration walks a loose plug partly out of the receptacle.

4
Ground-fault outlet tripping

GFCI tripping repeatedly points to a real fault.

5
Failing power cord or terminal block

Burned or corroded terminal block kills power intermittently.

How to Fix It

  1. Press Start/Pause to resume the cycle once power is back.
  2. If it won't resume, unplug the washer for 1 minute, then press and hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds while unplugged.
  3. Plug back in and start a fresh cycle.
  4. If PF returns repeatedly, plug a known-good appliance into the same outlet to test it.
  5. Check the breaker — reset if tripped; if it trips again, call an electrician.
  6. Inspect the washer's power cord at the back terminal block for scorching or loose lugs.
  7. Repeated PF on a confirmed-good outlet points to a failing main control board — call for service.
