What F2 Means

F2 means the outdoor condenser coil temperature sensor (T3 thermistor) is reading open or shorted.

Symptoms

  • Reduced performance or shutdown
  • F2 on the display

Common Causes

Failed T3 coil sensor

The condenser coil thermistor has failed.

Loose connector

The T3 plug on the outdoor board is loose.

How to Fix It

  1. Power off and open the outdoor unit.
  2. Find the T3 sensor on the condenser coil and reseat its connector.
  3. Replace the thermistor if it tests out of range.
