Samsung Dryer 9E1 / 9C1 — Power Supply / Voltage Error

Samsung Dryer · Error code 9E1

What 9E1 Means

The dryer detected an out-of-spec supply voltage — usually a partial 120V feed instead of the full 240V the heater needs, or a damaged power cord/outlet.

Symptoms

  • 9E1 or 9C1 on display
  • Dryer runs but won't heat
  • Display dim or flickering
  • Code appears immediately at power-up

Common Causes

1
Tripped half of a 240V breaker

One leg of the double-pole breaker open — dryer sees 120V only.

2
Loose / burned outlet terminal

Worn 4-prong receptacle losing a leg of supply.

3
Damaged power cord

Cord conductor broken at strain relief or terminal block.

4
Loose terminal block at dryer

Cord screws backed out at the dryer terminal block.

5
Main board power-input failure

PCB lost its high-voltage sense circuit.

How to Fix It

  1. Reset the dryer breaker — fully OFF, then back ON (both poles).
  2. Test the outlet with a multimeter — should read 240V across the hot legs and 120V from each leg to neutral.
  3. Unplug and inspect the cord, plug prongs, and outlet for heat damage or discoloration.
  4. Open the dryer terminal block cover and confirm cord screws are tight on all three (or four) terminals.
  5. Replace the power cord if any conductor is damaged.
  6. If supply tests good and connections are tight, the main control board needs replacement.
