Samsung Oven C-d1 — Door Lock Malfunction

Samsung Oven · Error code C-d1

What C-d1 Means

The door lock motor/assembly didn't reach the expected locked or unlocked position within the allowed time. Most often triggered during or right after a Self Clean cycle.

Symptoms

  • C-d1 displayed, oven door stays locked
  • Lock motor hums but latch doesn't move
  • Self Clean won't start or won't end
  • Door reports closed but bake won't start

Common Causes

1
Stuck latch from heat or debris

After Self Clean, expansion or charred food can jam the latch hook.

2
Failed door lock motor/assembly

Motor or microswitch in the latch assembly has burned out.

3
Broken latch linkage or spring

Mechanical linkage has bent or come off.

4
Wiring harness fault to lock assembly

Pinched/burned wire between main PCB and door lock.

5
Failed main control board

PCB isn't reading the latch position switch correctly.

How to Fix It

  1. Unplug or shut breaker for 5+ minutes — sometimes the lock motor finishes its travel on power restore.
  2. Inspect door, hinges, and latch for charred debris; clean gently around the latch.
  3. Start and then cancel a Self Clean cycle to drive the motor through its full travel.
  4. Remove the top panel and visually inspect the door lock assembly and its wiring.
  5. Test the lock motor and microswitches with a multimeter against Samsung's resistance specs.
  6. Replace the door lock assembly if mechanically failed or open-circuit.
  7. If lock and wiring test good, replace the main control board.
