PC ER — Communication Error Between Boards

The main control board has lost communication with the door panel or sub-PCB. Almost always caused by a loose door wiring harness — frequently after the door has been removed for delivery, or following a power surge.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes, then plug back in.
  2. If PC ER persists, pop the top hinge cover and check the multi-pin connector(s) routing from the cabinet into the door — reseat firmly.
  3. Inspect wires for pinching or damage at the hinge.
  4. If reseating doesn't help, isolate by swapping or testing the door sub-PCB.
  5. Replace the main PCB as a last resort.
