What F5E0 Means

The control sees a mismatch between the door latch position and the door switches — for example, switches say closed but the latch sensor disagrees. The microwave will not run until it agrees the door is properly shut.

Symptoms

  • F5E0 on the display
  • 'Door' or 'Close Door' message after the door is shut
  • Microwave will not start a cycle

Common Causes

How to Fix It

  1. Open and firmly close the door. Many F5E0 events clear with one clean cycle.
  2. Power-cycle at the breaker for 1 minute.
  3. Inspect the latch hooks on the door — they are a known wear part on Whirlpool OTRs and snap clean.
  4. Check the hinge for sag; the door should sit flush across the cavity face.
  5. If hooks and alignment are fine, the interlock switch pack (3 switches) needs to be tested for continuity and the failed one replaced. Order them as a set.
