Frigidaire Refrigerator Water Filter Guide (PureSource WF3CB & More)
Frigidaire (and its Electrolux sister brand, plus many Frigidaire-built Kenmore models) use the PureSource filter line. The brand reused similar names across years, so the trick is matching the exact PureSource number on your old filter.
Which PureSource Filter Do I Need?
The WF3CB (PureSource 3, older part 242069601) is the most common — a small cylinder usually in the top-right rear interior of side-by-side and top-freezer models. The WF2CB (PureSource 2) is the older version of that style. French-door and newer models often use a push-in cartridge: the ULTRAWF (PureSource Ultra) or the EPTWFU01 (PureSource Ultra II). These push-in cartridges are NOT interchangeable with the twist-in WF3CB, so check whether your filter twists or pushes in, and match the exact part number.
OEM vs Compatible Filters
Genuine Frigidaire PureSource filters run about $35-50. NSF 42/53-certified compatibles cost roughly $15-25 and work well — the NSF mark confirms they actually reduce chlorine taste/odor and contaminants. The push-in ULTRAWF/EPTWFU01 styles can be a bit fussier with aftermarket fitment, so if a compatible leaks or won't seat, go OEM for those.
Replace Every 6 Months and Reset
Change the filter every six months or when flow drops. Twist-style (WF3CB/WF2CB): turn a quarter turn and pull. Push-style: the ULTRAWF is push-push (press in and it ejects); the EPTWFU01 pushes in and turns 90 degrees until it clicks. Flush 2-4 gallons afterward (early cloudiness is normal). Reset the indicator by holding the dispenser filter/reset button about 3 seconds until the light returns to normal.

FAQ
Most use the WF3CB (PureSource 3). French-door and newer push-in models use ULTRAWF or EPTWFU01, and older units use WF2CB. Check whether your filter twists or pushes in, and match the part number.
Often yes — Electrolux and many Kenmore fridges are Frigidaire-built and use the same PureSource filters. Confirm by matching the part number on the old filter.
Yes. The WF3CB/WF2CB twist in; the ULTRAWF/EPTWFU01 push in. They are not interchangeable, so buy the style your fridge actually uses.
