E11 — Display Control Module Fault

Bosch's official US refrigeration error-code page documents only three entries: E02 (icemaker/ice-water communication), E03 (dispenser UI), and a generic 'E or D' catch-all. A bare 'E11' is not separately documented on the refrigeration page (note: E11 does have an official but different meaning on Bosch dishwashers/ovens — touch-key/condensation — do not assume that carries over to refrigerators). The 'display control module fault' explanation below is not confirmed — verify against your model's manual, or treat it per Bosch's generic guidance: power-cycle, and call support if it persists.

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the unit.
  2. Remove the rear lower access panel.
  3. Vacuum dust and pet hair from the condenser coils and fan blade.
  4. Spin the fan by hand; replace if stiff or noisy.
  5. Test the harness for continuity and proper voltage on the next start-up.
  6. Replace the condenser fan motor if dead; replace the main board if the motor and wiring are good.

Why it happens

Typical signs: E11 displayed · Compressor area very hot · Unit cycles off and on · Reduced cooling capacity

  • Failed condenser fan motor DC motor with internal failure.
  • Debris jamming the fan Pet hair, dust, or paper on the blade or shroud.
  • Disconnected harness Fan connector backed out during cleaning or service.
  • Main control board output failure Board cannot drive the fan.

Replace your water filter

A clogged or overdue water filter is a common cause of low water and ice flow on Bosch refrigerators — they are meant to be changed about every 6 months. The OEM-style filter that fits most Bosch refrigerators is the BORPLFTR10 ($60-75 OEM, $25-35 compatible).
