What E5 Means
Generic exhaust thermistor circuit fault reported by the control. The board can't get a usable reading from the exhaust sensor and pauses or aborts the cycle.
Symptoms
- E5 displays
- Cycle aborts unexpectedly
- Heat not engaging on sensor cycles
- Repeated beeps with E5
Common Causes
Out-of-range resistance (open or short).
Vibration walks the connector off.
Bare wire intermittently touching frame.
Board ADC channel intermittent.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the dryer.
- Inspect and reseat both ends of the exhaust thermistor harness.
- Measure thermistor resistance — replace if not roughly 10K ohms at room temp.
- Re-route any chafed wires and protect with electrical tape.
- Reassemble and run a heated cycle.
- If E5 returns, replace the main control board.
